Thanks to the 11-stage illumination adjustment the Short-Dot LE may be used like a red dot sight from the brightest sunshine to the use with night-vision goggles, without having to forego the benefits of a variable scope. Illumination turret and elevation adjustment are secured against any inadvertent rotation. The windage turret is closed off by a cap holding a spare battery.
